Almost to a man, both the 58's and the non-political offenders were hardworking family people capable of manifesting valor only in lawful ways, on the orders of and the approval of the higher-ups. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn
My good friend Denise, the high-priestess of the church of chocolate, tipped me to this video.
If and when you come to the conclusion that your elected representatives no longer listen to you (their employers) nor abide by their very own rules, are you content to wait for election time to roll back around when you'll then be able to vote (a vote which may or may not even count) to kick them out?
Here, you have Murtha abusing his power as Chairman in recognizing a very questionable (to say the least) vote count (in committee) as definitive, in spite of vocal disagreement, and refusing parliamentary challenges to his presumed authority to do so: "The Chair's decision is not subject to question." Recently, you've also seen a Congressman tell a constituent (his constituent!) that no one was going to tell him how to run his Congressional office. Town Hall meetings are being held over the telephone as a manner of controlling waves of dissenting public opinion. Would-be funny guy Al Franken was the beneficiary of crooked vote-counting (and re-counting and re-counting) until enough votes for him were "found" and his election then quickly certified (need I tell you which party was in charge of this fiasco?). And on and on.
Are you satisfied that your one vote is enough? Have you pierced the MSNBC-induced stupor of your friends and neighbors with some harsh truth? Have you bothered to tell your congressperson that you're sick of being labeled a racist for simply not knuckling under? Or, are you sharpening your own pitchfork, yet?
In light of, count them with me now, five sting-operation videos where ACORN advocates are seen and heard providing guidance toward setting up child-smuggling-and-prostitution houses, working to help fund the operation, giving tax advice, offering to aid said smuggling, and admitting to other crimes...and not even batting an eyelash, you haven't heard (except some efforts to discredit the reporters-Breitbart, O'Keefe, and Giles) any contributions from the ostrich media. In a world where every conceivable outlet scrambles to climb on the bandwagon and steal the thunder of any 'scoop' it's always: "Get me the local angle, dammit!" we're left with, instead...crickets.
Oh wait...stop the presses. We do have Jon Stewart:
Criminal conspiracy is not out of the ordinary for these folks, but an absolutely ingrained character trait. And now, the White says it wants to distance itself from ACORN. As Michelle says, "Obama can no more disown ACORN than he can his own shadow... He is ACORN, and ACORN is him." Furthermore, ACORN made Obama who he is, and he made them who they are. These are people who do not have a Utopian vision for America, but a vile and destructive one. Do not let anyone tell you that their existence (O!Bummer's and ACORN's) is coincidental. These are people who wish to do you harm, and do harm to your liberty and freedom.
In her email, she said she didn't think I'd believe it, the video of Murtha. Well, the opposite is true. I do believe it. The Far Left has found itself in the perfect storm of unprecedented power. They're acting in their own interests with impunity, and not only do I believe it, but I expect it. I fear the results, here at home and also abroad.
And I worry that my countrymen, hypnotized in their ignorance by ABC, CNN, CBS, NBC, & MSNBC, do not fear those effects enough.
"Who's gonna get their head cut?...What? Can't talk little man? Bet can't play none, neither. "
I get a kick out of Joe Seneca's Florida State chop to ward off the crazy dancing lady, but Ry Cooder and the tone he gets out of that Telecaster are the stars of this scene.
Just prior to the 2008 election, I worried aloud to a cousin of mine, who I knew was leaning Democrat (if he hadn't already voted so) that Obama had professed publicly his desire to create a civilian army (ahem..."security force") to rival in size and weaponry the US Military, and which answered only to him.
My cousin's animated response: "There's no way they'd ever let that happen."
In response to him was my question, dreading then what we've since seen come to pass, "with a majority in the House and a super-majority in the Senate, can you please tell me who you think 'they' will be?"
Even if you think you have reason to dislike Mr. Beck, watch this clip. And ask yourself if you're the least bit comfortable with who "they" are and what "their" motivations entail. Who among the great mysterious "they" has your interests at heart?
Would you care to guess whose well-being "they" do value?
When "they" have made it illegal or economically impossible to farm cattle on your own land, you can, with the help of a government-subsidized group like the one in this video, establish your own whore-house and employ (not to mention, benefit from their classification as "dependents" on your taxes) underage prostitutes smuggled from El Salvador.
Not for nuthin', but the "advisors" in this video very, very much resemble the administrative staff, advocates, and support personnel at the state-run (University of Texas) MD Anderson hospital.
Please tell me you've at least begun some measure of introspection on the sanity of your choices, Cuz.
Having monitored the traffic to this blog, I can report that the number of visitors dwarfs the number of commenters at about 200 to one. Either the handful of those commenting are checking back for updates every 10 minutes (now that's dedication) or there's lots of lurkers about. I suspect the latter.
I also suspect those lurking remain so because of their dissenting opinions opposite mine, and their relative inferiority toward voicing and supporting those arguments. Fine, I say. I'm happy to think that at least you've maybe learned something while you were here.
You've no doubt witnessed the smack-down I administered to the Dude Carriage (an America-hating troll who I'd journalistically thumped over at Kate's several times) on a couple of occasions, and you're reluctant to find yourself behind a similar woodshed. Rest assured, though, that dingbat brought it on hisself. Respectful disagreement is absolutely welcome here, poking the bear with a pointy stick without regard for the consequences could foster, what you might consider, a negative result.
That said, I'd like to clarify a small misconception. Although I won't call her by name (it rhymes with Schmerlfriend's Schmother), a comment she verbalized got back to me which I'll reference. She said, "All those Republicans get their misinformation from Fox News." Well, that got me wondering how much, in the great equation of political/social/cultural influence, real informational impact do I glean from Fox? The answer is, and I know you'll probably get all wee-wee'd up: virtually none. I get most of what I call news from online newspapers, the Drudge Report (which if you don't know, doesn't color the news, he just hands it to you without soliloquy), National Public Radio (don't think I'm not grinding my teeth through nigh every episode), Libertarian (not Republican) Neal Boortz' Neal's Nuze, and my fellow bloggers. And almost universally, when I read something that references another item, I follow back to the referenced article. I think it an insult when anyone pretends my (or that of my fellow Republicans) informational palette is narrowly supplied.
Like a good percentage of those bloggers I've come to admire, I came from a family of Democrats and was surrounded by Democrats most of my life, and considered myself one because I didn't know any better. On September 11, 2001, I thanked God that we had a Republican in the White House, and I still thank Dubya for not flinching for 8 years and having the huevos to carry more than empty rhetoric to the presidency (at least as applied to the question of national security). Also, on that day, I became a sponge for honest news. I found that Fox could deliver more-accurate reportage, but they even still couldn't refrain from too much color-commentary, and because they suffer from the same programmed mindset of how best to attract dedicated viewers, there's still too many fluff pieces for my liking. And I can't stomach shows featuring a "moderator" and three or more "experts" yelling at, and over, each other. I just don't get that, at all.
But this post isn't so much about Fox News, but about listening skeptically to what you're told.
In the final Presidential debate last October, both candidates were asked a rhetorical question by a caller. The lady said, and I'm paraphrasing, "What is it that you do not know, and how do you expect to learn it?"
I don't always have the perfect response to a question myself, but I immediately wished I could whisper in Senator McCain's ear: What I don't know is how can it be possible that a man...with zero leadership experience on one hand and a bagful of very scary historical associations (Wright, Ayers, Jones, ACORN, the corrupt Chicago political machine, communist personal mentor Frank Marshall Davis, and not-to-mention George Soros and Saul Alinsky) on the other, plus more than a little uncertainty regarding his citizenship and education on a third hand, ...could have poll numbers reflecting serious consideration for electing him President of these United States? And the way I expect to learn it is to watch what I call the Mainstream Media and see if they continue pandering to Socialist principles or decide to show his warts and strange, strange bedfellows the harsh light of day.
In that moment, while Johnnie Mac stumbled, stuttered, and lost his nerve, the election of 2008 was lost to a man who despises America, but has a pleasant speaking voice that masks his malevolent intent for destroying the fabric of this country.
I didn't know how and why so many people that I cared for, lots of intelligent folks, were so easily duped by him, but one thing that event spawned, for better or worse, was this blog, as an attempt at to clearly voice my dissention and opposition to the dumbing-down of the masses in general, and those who know me, in particular. Since its launch, I've come to know some truly outstanding minds, and am encouraged by the wave of patriotism amid which I find myself. Truly, I've stated before and shall reiterate, the smartest excuse you could have for visiting here could be checking the updates of those in my blogroll above left.
If you haven't heard of the Cloward-Piven Strategy, hatched in 1966 to create orchestrated calamity as a tool to engender a nationwide shift to embrace socialism, please follow the link to Mr. Simpson's essay. Also, if you choose to consider yourself a person who isn't easily fooled by those who would make them so, and you are open to reading one thing which doesn't fall lockstep into programmed liberalist/progressive/socialist so-called "intellectual" thought, please read the referenced essay. This work is the most-comprehensive piece that ties all of Obama's relationships, tutoring, and associations (not to mention his obligations!) into one package. And guess what, none of it is good. You may hear folks like Olberman and Matthews wax poetic about it (the essay) being unflattering, but you will not hear anyone disputing its veracity. This environment is where Obama's thinking was born and incubated, so it's not difficult at all to understand his rationale for appointing Van Jones, an avowed Communist, to a position of authority.
And that leads me to tonight's speech to be delivered to the joint session of Congress, where the great Community Organizer, defacto President of the United States, will push again for the passing of his so-called "healthcare reform" bill. If you choose to listen to him reading his teleprompter, please keep in the back of your mind this: The only certainty regarding government-run healthcare is that it will empower the government and further addict the populace to that same entity. The people who show up at Town Hall meetings are people just like me, who see corruption for what it is, and refuse to grant Washington DC more complete control of their lives, not paid shills for the Republican party. They are terrified of what more power, in the hands of those whose only purpose (and I'm talking about both sides of the aisle) is to increase their power and feather their own nests, means as a trade-off: more for them equals less for us. This is why you heard a Congessmen say in a Town Hall meeting yesterday, "You aren't allowed to film in here because it's my Town Hall meeting...And you're not going to tell me how to run my Congressional Office." -Democrat Baron Hill, Indiana.
Thanks to Flopping Aces for the video. Sorry to burst their bubble, but I will be telling them all exactly how to run their Congressional Offices, and I expect you should be also.
Please take it from me, one who ably chooses to process a wide palette of information, a cancer survivor who has battled his insurance company and hospital, was fired from his job over the diagnosis, who can't afford insurance ($2100 per month), and who was handed a bill for medical services (over $50,000) in spite of assured "complete coverage"...The federal government sticking its grubby self-serving hands into the healthcare equation is already part of the problem, and can't possibly be trusted as part of the solution. The current laws (laws, I say!) that preclude insurance companies from selling policies across state lines and limit your ability as the insured from changing jobs without losing your insurance, coupled with insane lawsuits and the higher medical costs that that process leads to (because of the absurd costs of malpractice insurance), benefit only the lawyers!...and, of course, those lawyers posing as elected representatives who enacted them.
Your addiction to their "care" is the set of shackles that enslaves you to them. The more authority and control and power you grant them, the less of it remains with you. There will be a faceless bureaucrat deciding whether you're worthy (because of your potential future contribution to the community) of that bypass surgery or should receive end-of-life counseling, if and when the federal government supplies/oversees your insurance. Consider as you listen to this America-hating communist speak tonight, the same person who actually said the new healthcare program would be run as smoothly and efficiently as the US Postal Service (you can scream now), the chart below illustrates the environment wherein he learned what he knows, and explains what is truly in his heart. Thanks again to Jim at Truth or Consequences. Click image to enlarge. UPDATE: It seems that clicking on image does nothing to help view it, so I re-inserted a larger version.
I apologize for the enormity of this post, but had to get it all off my chest. If you've read this and you're still making excuses for the left, and still taking what the MSM says as honestly newsworthy, then I say you are either lamentably ignorant or intentionally un-American.
If you're like me, then you most likely seek out that which is true and honest and good, and do your best to shun and not tolerate that which is rotten and vile. The one real benefit from the radical left's ascension to power is, that if we choose to see it for what it is, the intentional subversion of our country's founding principles, our core values will be strengthened and unified and we may never wander foolishly down this idiotic collective alleyway again.
You can't go back and change your vote, but you can change your way of thinking, and method by which you get your information.
Final note to Schmom, I bet I read ten times as much McClatchey newspaper propaganda and at least twice as much NPR as your limited exposure to Fox News. Which among us is the better informed, and more intellectually well-rounded?
Oh yeah, baby. Been a long nine months. It smelled like Autumn outside today. The first new leaf colors showed up over the weekend, and today was noticeably cooler. Here comes what is undeniably the best time of the year.
Time to hit somebody.
Update:
If the start of Carolina football this Saturday wasn't enough for you, consider the fact that also this weekend, the greatest alumni game ever assembled will tip off (Friday, 8PM) in front of a sell-out crowd in the Dean E. Smith center, where (also worthy of a "yeah, baby!") the banner acknowledging the 2009 National Champion UNC Tar Heel basketball team will be raised to the rafters.
Roy Williams was sitting in his Smith Center office, the one with the newly framed photo of Ty Lawson and Michael Jordan hanging out at the Cousy Award ceremony. Across from Williams was Phil Ford; on the office speakerphone was Pat Sullivan. Ford and Sullivan were serving as the designated "general managers" for a draft intended to distribute players for Friday night's game.
As everyone involved reviewed the talent pool, Williams looked at Ford. "You know, Phil, point guard must be a pretty easy position. Look how many point guards we've got on this list."
Both men chuckled...and at that exact moment, Lawson walked in the door.
"See?" Williams said. "They're all over the place!"
Lawson was stopping by before working out with some current and former Tar Heels later in the afternoon. That gave the room exactly 1,361 career assists--plus another 120 on the phone, as Sullivan would probably be quick to point out. It's hard to round up that many assists in some programs, much less on an average Tuesday afternoon.
What a great weekend to be in Chapel Hill. Happy Labor Day, y'all.
I was encouraged during my schooling days (not quite "taught"...but they tried) that if I had nothing good to say, I should say nothing, and that it's impolite to speak ill of the dead. And so, I thought I did pretty well keeping my unflattering opinions to myself when Jacko the child-molester went Tango Uniform.
Similarly, without anything nice to say on the occasion of Ted Kennedy's passing, I'll remain relatively silent. The liberal-left, for whose cause he was the most prominent banner-bearer, will shamelessly try to play the event to their advantage. Watch today or tomorrow and see them try to dedicate another push for their socialized-medicine, big-government scheme "to his memorial legacy" or some such hogwash.
I'll only link to what a few others have written, far better pundits than I...
And linked from Ms. Malkin, The Anchoress brings more generosity than I could muster.
Wait. Okay, updated from M/M, Kennedy did in fact campaign for Ronald Reagan and against the peanut-head. So that's two things worthy of celebration, at least.
Update: Fuck that. I'll mourn for Mary Jo Kopechne, who died in vain. Her murderer went unpunished. Miss Kopechne was failed by the law, and her killer spent his life perverting the law. I say that's a despicable trade-off. Her death shouldn't be reduced to a metaphor, but isn't what he did to her the exact same thing he's done to this country during his entire career?
Here, little girl...climb in my car while I drive recklessly and drunkenly along this bridge that has no guardrails. I'll pretend that what I'm doing to you may have some benefit for you.
Oops.
Now, I'm going to save my own worthless hide, so you'll just have to fend for yourself. Sorry that I had to lock you in. Having you tell others about my questionable sobriety (or incompetency) just would not do.
My country is worse off for him having escaped earthly justice. The only good thing to say is that now, at least, he won't be driving any of us around anymore. Let's just hope we can kick out a window before it's too late.
You've gotta love Michelle Malkin. Listening to her, you get calm rational logic. But pay attention also to the so-called hosts of these shows. It should come as no surprise that Matt Lauer and the ladies from The View are blind, mindless disciples of the O!Bummer messiah. See how they (especially the one named Joy, I think) spit bile when Malkin says unfavorable things about the Big Zero's top-to-bottom infestation of cheats, crooks and cronies in the administration. Watch her disgust as she says, "...every broken promise: transparency, accountability, ethics...failing to deliver" and then squirming in their seats to interject and derail. Listen to Whoopie a time or two and see if her "question" even sounds like a question. See if you can easily substitute the phrase, "I don't like what you're saying, so I'm going to displace what you're saying with nonsense, or so our audience members don't hear everything you say, you heretic."
First, get some of this...
Then go check out how she lays waste to Lauer. I love his "she just completely ate my lunch" look as he says, "lot of comments there, this is Today and we'll be back."
But in the 2nd half of the Lauer video, Krauthammer unifies the entire point: Obama's campaign led so many of the middle-ground voters to believe that his presidency would transcend the muck and mire and general bullshit that we've come to expect from politicians...that there would be a genuineness and wholesomeness in the White House, and that what we've gotten instead is perhaps the most corrupt and dispicable administration in history, and precisely the loathing of America preached by Reverend Wright.
Lauer said at one point, "He (meaning Obama) hasn't gotten to where he has today by being a 'racial opportunist' has he?" Well yeah, Matt. That's exactly why.
Wow, it's been nearly a month since the last post. This is the longest drought of blogging production since I launched the blog. At least, I rested on a good article in that most recent effort.
What? How can I blatantly say that it was good? Well, I wrote it, that's why.
The lack of production from me, though, hasn't been due to a lack of remarkable subject matter. Since that most-recent post, in fact, I've been able to do some fly-fishing with a niece and nephew on separate occasions, ride horses at the new club-land, had a family reunion, actually had a job interview (don't ask), go camping twice, and take in a new member of the household (a fox terrier named "Sweety"). All that in addition to cancelling a trip to some doctors at MD Anderson (I'm firing those bozos) and seeing a new (better) one in North Carolina, who scoffed at the need for more CT scans, and their associated high dosages of unnecessary additional radiation (not to mention their $3000+ each price tag), and after careful examination, issued me a clean bill of health. That report only served to confirm what I already knew. But apparently, some folks give those so-called "doctors" more credibility than they do me. Money down the drain, in my opinion. Quacks.
Part of the productivity problem is the current ongoing struggle against financial ruin. For a while, the juggling act of putting off one bill to pay another left this blogger without internet service. Not the end of the world (that comes next month when the mortgage goes unpaid). But heck, what does one 40-something white guy and his business future matter in comparison to the prospect of growing the federal and state governments and everyone's dependency thereupon? Apparently not so much.
Am I not a shining example of what gets sacrificed in pursuit of the hope-n-change nonsense?
If you know me, and you've seen the economic effect this administration's actions have had on me and my business, even if you want to disregard the merit of my words, have you not yet witnessed first-hand the very real result of your political choices?
This won't be my final blog post, but if it was, I'd want everyone to know that I won't seek or accept their handouts (SBA loans, governments subsidies, re-careering education, etc.), and I haven't drank the kool-aid. I know you can't eat your principles, but I'd go hungry (or better yet, go to the wilderness) long before I willingly castrate my liberty.
This letter was written on November 6 of last year, while so many folks were aglow (and yes "tingly down the pant legs", Chris Matthews) over the ascendency of the Big Zero. It was written by a woman.
A black woman.
Who is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Illinois State and continuing Visiting Scholar at Stanford University's Hoover Institution.
And a fan of free-market capitalism, liberty, individualism and objectivism.
Presenting Dr. Anne Wortham...
Fellow Americans,
Please know: I am black; I grew up in the segregated South. I did not vote for Barack Obama; I wrote in Ron Paul's name as my choice for president. Most importantly, I am not race conscious. I do not require a black president to know that I am a person of worth, and that life is worth living. I do not require a black president to love the ideal of America.
I cannot join you in your celebration. I feel no elation. There is no smile on my face. I am not jumping with joy. There are no tears of triumph in my eyes. For such emotions and behavior to come from me, I would have to deny all that I know about the requirements of human flourishing and survival - all that I know about the history of the United States of America, all that I know about American race relations, and all that I know about Barack Obama as a politician. I would have to deny the nature of the "change" that Obama asserts has come to America. Most importantly, I would have to abnegate my certain understanding that you have chosen to sprint down the road to serfdom that we have been on for over a century. I would have to pretend that individual liberty has no value for the success of a human life. I would have to evade your rejection of the slender reed of capitalism on which your success and mine depend. I would have to think it somehow rational that 94 percent of the 12 million blacks in this country voted for a man because he looks like them (that blacks are permitted to play the race card), and that they were joined by self-declared "progressive" whites who voted for him because he doesn't look like them. I would have to be wipe my mind clean of all that I know about the kind of people who have advised and taught Barack Obama and will fill posts in his administration - political intellectuals like my former colleagues at the Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.
I would have to believe that "fairness" is equivalent of justice. I would have to believe that man who asks me to "go forward in a new spirit of service, in a new service of sacrifice" is speaking in my interest. I would have to accept the premise of a man that economic prosperity comes from the "bottom up," and who arrogantly believes that he can will it into existence by the use of government force. I would have to admire a man who thinks the standard of living of the masses can be improved by destroying the most productive and the generators of wealth.
Finally, Americans, I would have to erase from my consciousness the scene of 125,000 screaming, crying, cheering people in Grant Park, Chicago irrationally chanting "Yes We Can!" Finally, I would have to wipe all memory of all the times I have heard politicians, pundits, journalists, editorialists, bloggers and intellectuals declare that capitalism is dead - and no one, including especially Alan Greenspan, objected to their assumption that the particular version of the anti-capitalistic mentality that they want to replace with their own version of anti-capitalism is anything remotely equivalent to capitalism.
So you have made history, Americans. You and your children have elected a black man to the office of the president of the United States, the wounded giant of the world. The battle between John Wayne and Jane Fonda is over - and that Fonda won. Eugene McCarthy and George McGovern must be very happy men. Jimmie Carter, too. And the Kennedys have at last gotten their Kennedy look-a-like. The self-righteous welfare statists in the suburbs can feel warm moments of satisfaction for having elected a black person. So, toast yourselves: 60s countercultural radicals, 80s yuppies and 90s bourgeois bohemians. Toast yourselves, Black America. Shout your glee Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Duke, Stanford, and Berkeley. You have elected not an individual who is qualified to be president, but a black man who, like the pragmatist Franklin Roosevelt, promises to - Do Something! You now have someone who has picked up the baton of Lyndon Johnson's Great Society. But you have also foolishly traded your freedom and mine - what little there is left - for the chance to feel good. There is nothing in me that can share your happy obliviousness.
November 6, 2008
To an extent, it's good to know there are folks out there, specifically persons of color with intelligence & the capacity for independent thought who are willing and able to decry the great Affirmative Action experiment for the rape on our culture and its liberties, that it is. I just pray that there are other folks willing to listen...and damn soon.
This morning, I found a nice companion piece for yesterday's video-post regarding Ms. Palin. Sometimes you read something (or maybe not YOU, but certainly I do) that makes you say, "Man, I wish I'd have written that". The essay, referenced and quoted by my friend The Conservative Pup's blog, is pure journalistic mastery. Consider these excerpts:
I don’t know why I’m telling you this, but maybe now you’re beginning to understand the high-stakes game we’re playing here. This ain’t John McCain’s logrolling senatorial club any more. This is a deadly serious attempt to realize the vision of the 1960s and to fundamentally transform the United States of America. This is the fusion of Communist dogma, high ideals, gangster tactics, and a stunning amount of self-loathing. For the first time in history, the patrician class is deliberately selling its own country down the river just to prove a point: that, yes, we can! This country stinks and we won’t be happy until we’ve forced you to admit it.
In other words, stop thinking of the Democratic Party as merely a political party, because it’s much more than that. We’re not just the party of slavery, segregation, secularism, and sedition. Not just the party of Aaron Burr, Boss Tweed, Richard J. Croker, Bull Connor, Chris Dodd, Richard Daley, Bill Ayers, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and Emperor Barack Hussein Obama II. Not just the party of Kendall “Agent 202” Myers, the State Department official recruited as a Cuban spy along with his wife during the Carter administration. Rather, think of the Democratic Party as what it really is: a criminal organization masquerading as a political party.
The article is entitled, I Still Hate You Sarah Palinby David Kahane in the National Review. Please consider following the link above to read the whole thing. It's worth it.
Thanks, Pup!
I'll say again, if you folks weren't listening...It should be considered good advice that any of you come to my blog with your morning coffee, crank the playlist player's "play" button, and proceed through the updates in my blogroll as a vital part of your daily routine.
Why do I have such high regard for Ms. Palin? Mostly because I think she shares the sentiment that there is little or no need to be a great politician in order to be a great leader. I listen to what she says, and I have the sense that what she says is an extension of who she is, not a fabrication of what she thinks someone wants to hear.
If she wants to be a hockey coach, the first female President (never thought I'd say that or see it happen in my lifetime), start a late-night television show on Fox to trounce the Lettermans and would-be-Lettermans of the world, or write a book and have a public-speaking tour in support of it (hey Sarah, do you want a co-writer?), I'm behind her 100%.
Update: For a truly magical combination, click play on the playlist player above (Rebel Son's One Way Or Another) while you read this post.
Hey there, you crazy kids! I just put the O!Bummer countdown widget on my blog. How cool is that?! Just over thirteenhundred days to go. Still seems awfully long. Unbearably so. I still hope he chokes to death on a chicken-bone. Yeah, that's mean, but he hates America...and I hate anyone who hates America. Frankly, I think he should simply say, "You know what? I realize now what an indefensible scam I've perpetrated on the USA, and fully confess my ineptitude...I shall resign my post immediately to perhaps save my Negro brethren from further embarrassment."
On a distantly related note, by a show of hands, how many among you would subscribe to a pay-per-view event that pitted Sarah Palin against John Kerry in a no-rules, steel-cage, bareknuckles, death-match?
Me too!
We all know that Sarah-Cuda's intellect runs wide circles around Kerry's and O!Bummer's and Biden's and well, all those socialists. But don't you think she could righteously whip any of them, anytime, anywhere, and for any amount of money? Wouldn't it be just cooler than all git-out to see Kerry laying in a pool of his own tears & piss & blood, with Governor Palin standing over him saying, "Ah shucks, John, there you go again...bleedin' all over my pretty shoes."
If you are, or think you might be, supportive of the current administration's efforts regarding health-care reform, or even if you're somehow naive enough to believe that their motives might not be purely evil, then you should consider reading Ms. Malkin's report linked herewith. Also, if you think the Obamination and Ol' Miss Stink-eye are above the fray, be sure to read about her "patient-dumping" chicanery.
If a tingly-legged sensation gets you through the day toward your evening fix of spoon-fed moonbattery via the mainstream news networks, and you've been known to cringe at the thought of anyone being critical of the Great Eunuch in Chief (I got that from MataHarley--Flopping Aces-- this morning), then you'd better not read the entire essay. But if you have an open mind, and I promise not to say I told ya so, and wouldn't mind seeing those dots of intentional corruption perfectly connected, then please treat yourself to her essay, of which I submit this sample:
Why do they want Obamacare? An internal ACORN memo I obtained from August 2008 makes the motives clear. “Over our 38 years, health care organizing has never been a major focus either nationally or locally for ACORN,” wrote ACORN Philadelphia region director Craig Robbins. “But increasingly, ACORN offices around the country are doing work on health care.” The goal: “Building ACORN Power.” The memo outlines the ACORN/HCAN partnership and strategy of opposing any programs that rely on “unregulated private insurance” – and then parlaying political victory on government-run health care “to move our ACORN agenda (or at least part of it) with key electeds that we might otherwise not be able to pull off.”
The objective, in other words, is to piggyback and exploit Obamacare to improve and protect their political health. The “grass-roots” movement is not about representing Main Street. It’s about peddling influence and power on 1825 K Street.
I have my own personal distaste for the current state of healthcare dysfunction, namely, the general passing-the-buck, lack of accountability between the providers and insurers, with patients chewed up in the middle. But, government at it's best, even if there weren't any associated corruption, is not the answer. Thanks, but no thanks...At what point shall the rest of you agree that this federal government has over-reached in pushing its influence and control onto your lives?
If I weren't so busy trying to find work, and showering the monumentally fabulous Sherry with affection, I would be presenting well-worded and thoughtful discourse on many things! Those things might certainly include Tar Heel baseball, stupid Supreme Court Justice appointments, fly-fishing, horse-trailin', leaping tall trees and Shakesperean sonnets. But this blogger is busy.
So, with that in mind...allow me to simply present Mr. Cavuto:
Well put, sir. Hat tip to Flopping Aces, where, if I can't feed you more nuggets by Sunday, you should go back to for the Sunday Funnies.
On Wednesday, I went out to get in a few sets of tennis, hopefully before any rain came. The temperature had cooled some on the front of a storm, and I and my opponent headed to the courts, about 5 minutes' drive away. During our warm-up time, there was lightning popping in all directions but nothing it seemed for 10-15 miles (flash...one mississippi, two mississippi...15). Just when we agreed to get the games started, the first drops came, the big ones that you know have lots of friend-drops coming fast and furious right behind. We'd scooped up our sweat towels, water-bottles, and racket bags and barely gotten to my truck when the deluge began. And I suggested that I'd go on to the gas station and fuel up while we see if it's a real storm or just 10 minutes of bluster. Immediately after gassing up, I decided that further tennis was not in that evening's plans, and headed on home. On the way, we had a couple cracks of lightning and simultaneous booms of thunder, and knew the worst of the lightning was right close.
Coming up the drive, I could see the Mag-dog standing in the driving rain and was raising hell at me to do something. It isn't at all uncommon for her to do that; she doesn't like thunder and lightning, and I don't blame her, but short of bringing a wet, muddy dog in the house (not happening) there's not much a feller can do. I parked the truck and sat there with the ignition off, knowing that she was still there barking her head off, but unable to hear it for the sound of the rain.
The only thing I'd noticed amiss when I went on inside was the lack of landline phone sevice, and I figured that was something that would be readily known and repaired by that utility company. The next morning, I found out why I didn't have a dial tone.
I only discovered this after noticing chunks of tree bark in the front yard, opposite site of the house from this tree. The 2nd picture shows where a root exploded between the tree and house. The last illustrates how close it is to Maggie's run...she's tethered to an overhead cable strung from one tree to another, which is about 30 feet away from and no more than 5 feet shorter than this white pine with the exploding bark.
On a completely seperate and unrelated note: Fuck David Letterman and the white pig he rode in on.
With very little soliloquy, I would like to present another video by a man that knows how to make a speech. It isn't ironic or coincidental that he needs no teleprompter. You see here a gentleman who from his heart, speaks the simple truth.
If you prefer to categorize Newt Gingrich as the Bad Old Man of the Grand Old Party, you shouldn't watch this. At about the 8:55 mark in, you'll hear him say that he, "is not a citizen of the world," and you will hear things that make you proud to be an American, proud again also to be a Republican, proud that you aren't an apologist, but rather looking hopefully and confidently to 2010 and 2012.
I know it's two straight posts with video-embedded speeches by great Americans, but heh. Fifty-Six minutes long, but well-worth every second.
Then, tomorrow, I'll embed another video...by a woman whose blogs always move me to uproarious laughter, but this day moved me to tears.
While the Obamination is pulling down the pants of America, and embracing weakness and shame, revisit with me the words of a man who loved his country. President Reagan stands on the cliff of Point Du Hoc, gushing respect for those men of those countries who were there with ours, and basking in the glory of being the leader of the country whose men and women are the best and brightest and bravest, the shining example of what is good and true in the world. I've seen this video on at least six other sites yesterday and today.
As President Reagan says in closing, "Let us continue to stand for the ideals for which they lived and died."
Our nation, as the strongest nation and the best, has a responsibility to remain as such. In the time before our full involvement in WWII, the enemies of freedom and liberty took advantage of our absence, expanding their aggression and conquest and their threat. The same is happening now, and will only worsen, so long as the fools who pretend to leadership in this country continue their systematic submission. When our country shuns the responsibility that comes with being the mightiest and best, the despots and tyrants and thugs rush in to fill that void. Without men like Ronald Reagan, the brave men of this country like you and me will sit like swords rusting in their scabbards, sheathed and disregarded.
Which of the following do you think makes an appropriate anthem for this generation of moonbattery?

How easy it is to disregard the Hand of God while tethered to a keyboard and computer monitor, or a television, or even a book, or the next thing on the to-do list. A week ago, I choked up singing these words, "...when I in awesome wonder, consider all the worlds thy hands have made..." for the sense of loss over having insulated myself from that wonder, and those wondrous things. But yesterday, as I stood on the platform at Mt. Mitchell, breathing its scenery...
And recalled William Blake's The Tyger...
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
